A constable of district police was abducted by suspected Maoists in Chattisgarh’s Maoist-hit Sukma district in Bastar division on Tuesday.
Police have registered a case and started investigation.
“Constable Kalmu Hidma of district police was abducted from Sukma. He was returning from home on Monday when suspected Maoists abducted him near Puswada village under Polampalli police station,” SP Sukma Indira Kalyan Elesela said to media persons.
Police said that Hidma was originally posted in Polampalli police station but currently he was attached with CRPF camp for last few months.
As per the police, the constable had gone to Polampalli to celebrate Diwali with his family and had not informed the paramilitary senior officials before leaving the camp.
On Monday, when he was returning to the camp on his bike he was intercepted by Maoists at a place about one-and-half km from Puswada.
Police have recovered Hidma’s bike and launched a massive hunt and combing operation to trace the constable.
