A day after four persons including a senior cop and TIPRA Motha party candidate sustained injuries during Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) village committee polling in Gomati district, the state Election Commission on Tuesday announced repolling at three seats in the same district on October 3.
The repoll would be held at Matabari block and Amarpur block in Gomati district.
“We ordered for repolling on October 3 after a detailed examination of the polling process. Polling would begin from 7am”, said state election commissioner PK Chakraborty.
The village committee polling recorded over 80% turnout on Monday, barring Maharani in Gomati district where four persons including a TIPRA Motha party candidate and Gomati superintendent of police Anirban Das sustained injuries.
Though 4,597 seats were supposed to go for polls under 587 village committees, voting would take place in 2,950 seats as 1,644 seats were elected unopposed leaving three seats vacant with no nominations.
Total 8,176 candidates from different political parties, are in fray.
Votes would be counted on October 5.
