A 35-year-old man was arrested for allegedly murdering his live-in partner in Uttarakhand’s Dharchula, police said, adding that the woman’s body, bearing visible injury marks, was found near the Khotila bridge on Friday morning.

The deceased, Meenu Lohari (35), was living with Devraj Nabiyal in Khotila after separating from her husband, Mohan Ram, a resident of Nepal, about three years ago, Dharchula police station in charge Ambi Ram said.
“A forensic team inspected the crime scene and Nabiyal’s residence, where bloodstains were discovered on the bed and floor,” he said.
The deceased’s son filed a first information report (FIR) under Sections 103(1) (murder) and 238(1) (causing disappearance of evidence) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) against Nabiyal on Friday, inspector Ram added.
“On the basis of technical and manual intelligence, a police team arrested the accused on Friday night from the banks of the Kali River near the SSB camp,” he said.
According to the police, based on the disclosures made by the Nabiyal during interrogation, they recovered the wooden stick used in the crime, along with a bloodstained shirt, shoes and a mobile phone.
