“Modi ji burning files is not going to save you. Your day of judgement is coming,” Gandhi tweeted.

The fire department was alerted about the incident around 2:45pm and the fire was doused within 10 minutes, said Atul Garg, chief fire officer (Delhi Fire Services). He added that seven fire tenders were sent to the spot.

Garg said files were not gutted in the fire. “...some old computers, wires, coolers stored for repair and old furniture were burnt. These were stacked on the terrace of the sixth floor of the building,” said Garg.

He reiterated his allegation that Modi sided with rich businessmen, while assuring that the Congress’s proposed minimum income guarantee scheme, or Nyay, for the poorest families will be a game-changer.

“Narendra Modi haar rahe hai. Unka chehera sikud gaya hai. Unka interview dekhiye. Woh jhijhak-jhijhak ke bol rahe hai...darr kar bol rahe hai. Congress party ki sarkar aa rahi hai (Narendra Modi is going to be defeated. His face has shrivelled. Watch his interviews. He is speaking with hesitation...He is afraid. The Congress party is coming to power),” he said.

BJP state spokesperson Rajneesh Agrawal said, “Gandhi has been making wild allegations throughout the campaign. The people can see through it. They want a strong country, and they want Modiji back as the prime minister.”
