"We have issued 12,000 promotion orders under different categories in the education department in the last 6 months," Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand said.

He said 22,000 vacant posts of lecturers and teachers have been referred to Public Services Commission (PSC) and Services Selection Board (SSB) and hoped that the selection process will be completed soon.

The government has recently accorded sanction for engagement of Rehbar-e-Talaeem (ReT) teachers in the schools near Actual Line of Control (LoC), far-flung and backward areas in the state.

Mr Chand said need of the hour is to change education policy in the state and in this regard a board has already been constituted to review the same.

A Board has also been constituted in education department which will check and monitor the fee structure of all private education institutions, he added.

He asked the teaching community to imbibe among students knowledge about various facets of education and also inculcate moral value based education among the students in their daily morning assembly.

The deputy Chief Minister directed all the Chief Education Officers (CEOs) and Zonal Education Officers(ZEOs) to convene parents-teachers meet at regular intervals.
