At least four people died and several were injured when more than 500 feet-tall chimney of a 500 Megawatt Paricha thermal power station collapsed in Paricha of Jhansi district 292 km south of Lucknow on Monday.

UP Power Corporation Chairman Navneet Sehgal visited the accident spot. The chimney, according to sources, was a recent construction for a new 250 MW unit that was due to be commissioned next month.
National Building Construction Corporation (NBCC) built the chimney. The accident has not affected the working of the two existing power generation units.
