A 29-year-old woman has given birth to a baby weighing 6.1 kg at a hospital in Aizawl, officials said today.

The baby, delivered by caesarian section on Sunday, was doing well along with the mother, Laltlanfeli.

"This is possibly Mizoram's heaviest newborn baby," a gynaecologist at the government-run hospital said.
