, with the legendary TV show. The distribution rights for the film, that was readied in 1974, have been bought by Salim Jafer. According to him, it was the demise of Frank Fernandes, the film’s producer, which led to the colossal delay in the film’s release. “Fernandesji did not manage to complete the film for some reason. Soon after his demise, the rights were transferred to us and we managed to repay all the loans to get the film released,” said Jafer. “Vinod Mehraji’s death also caused some delay, as did Amrishji’s, but this film sees Jayaji’s best performance by far. It is something that she has never done before in any other film.”

Vinod Mehra’s daughter, Soniya Mehra, who recently made her debut film Victoria No 203, a remake of the classic 1972 film, has also been flooded with messages on Twitter. “I’ve seen the film’s posters everywhere, and it’s a great feeling… like he’s still around. I’ve been getting tweets about how people want to go watch it. I’m really happy that the film is releasing and that people still remember him, I’m proud to be his daughter,” says Mehra.
Over 200 prints of the film have been distributed around the country. In Mumbai, it will be playing at Liberty in Fort, Shradha in Dadar and Amar in Chembur.
The story is about a confident, visually impaired young woman (Jaya Bachchan) who hails from a rich family and is married to a righteous but ordinary photographer (Vinod Mehra). The story portrays how a visually challenged person is in no way handicapped. The search for a stolen necklace leads to the climax. Bollywood’s most cherished antagonist, Amrish Puri, can once again be seen on the big screen, five years after his demise.
