The co-ordination committee headed by BAR Association Jammu has decided to intensify its agitation against the reported shifting of AIIMS from Jammu to Srinagar with candle light procession, later to be followed by dharna and gherao of Jammu MLAs and ministers.

The decision was taken in a meeting of co-ordination committee held at the High Court complex in Jammu on Monday.

The members thanked people for making Jammu bandh successful on May 27 and expressed anguish over the attitude of the ruling coalition government in state and the central government and particularly the elected representatives of the Jammu province.

Chairman of coordination committee, Abhinav Sharma, said, "People of Jammu gave a huge mandate to BJP in the hope that their participation in the government would end discrimination with the Jammu region. But they have totally let down the people."

"I appeal to the people of the Jammu province to be fully prepared for a long drawn struggle as their opponents are determined to jeopardise their interests," he said.

It was also decided that the members of the committee would meet again on June 6 and take decision in this regard.

The coordination committee also decided to constitute committees to visit district head quarters and tehsils to mobilise public opinion across the province.
