THE STATEWIDE closure call given by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) in protest against bomb blasts in Varanasi on Tuesday evening caused innumerable difficulties to the examinees on Wednesday in reaching examination centres situated in the heart of the city.
Students, who had to take examination during the noon shift from 11 am to 2 pm could not reach examination centres due to unprecedented road blocks at almost all important road crossings due to long processions and road meetings.
The route to DAV, Christ Church, SN Sen, Juhari Devi and BND Colleges was awfully crowded due to processions and examinees had to leave rickshaws or tempos much before the college gate and then cover the distance on foot.
On regular days also examinees faced difficulties in reaching examination centres on time due to unruly traffic in the city. The worst affected are the students residing in the south city, who have to reach their examination centres after covering a long distance.
However, students having their examination in the morning shift find no difficulty. They get very meagre traffic on roads in the early morning. But those who have to take examinations in the day or in the noon shift from 11 am and 3 pm respectively face road blocks at every kilometre.
