In a last minute call, producer Rajesh Singh has postponed the December 29 release of his second film Anwar.

The reason, as per the news doing the rounds, is that one of the distributors of Manisha Koirala’s first home production Paisa Vasool, has approached the distribution association at Indore and brought in a stay.

He claims that Koirala, who stars in Anwar, is yet to pay up the losses incurred after Paisa Vasool bombed.

Confirming the news, Singh says, “A distributor called Sabharwal is standing against the release of the film. But we are working out a solution.” But Koirala is still in the dark. “I’m out of Mumbai right now. When I return on December 29, I’ll personally talk to her and settle the matter. I think with talks we will be able to overcome this crisis,” says a confident Singh.

The producer has other reasons for the delay — not getting the right theatres. Superstition also plays a hand here. “ Films released during the last week and the first week of any year have not done well,” he says with a sigh.

“With so much at stake, why take any chance?” he asks. The Manish Jha-directed film, which also stars Siddharth Koirala and Nauheed Cyrusi, will now release on January 12.
