The city police informed that the victim, working as a doctor in local Lata Mangeshkar Hospital, was raped by her batch mate, Dr Sarang Ramchandra Kanade (30), working in Indian Army as doctor.

According to the victim, Dr Kanade, the accused, came to Nagpur in April in 2012 for appearing of his post graduate examination.

Both, the victim and the army doctor, have passed the MBBS examination in 2001 from Nagpur and were known to each other.

As the lady doctor was also appearing for the post graduate examination, they used to study together.

On April 27, the army doctor came to the residence of lady doctor at Ambazhari and raped her at gun point when she was alone.

The victim was in mental trauma after the rape and undergone the psychological treatment for couple of months.

When she recovered from the trauma, she went to local police station and registered a complaint against the army doctor, police said.

"We are investigating the matter and the concerned doctor would be arrested soon," Dusane said and refused to divulge the other details.
