Attack on mall political vendetta: Ajeya Singh

“The attackers, who indulged in hooliganism and destroyed the property, were carrying flags of the Samajwadi Party. I have urged the district administration and the State Government to provide security in view of the increasing threat,” he said.

“Such attacks will send a wrong message. Businessmen and entrepreneurs who wish to invest in UP will shy from coming here,” Singh said.

Talking to media persons here on Friday, Singh said he was a professional banker and set up the Atlantis Multiplex Limited in Allahabad to create a global business environment in the city. “Since two years I have been convincing MNCs to invest in Allahabad and after continuous effort they agreed.

The attack and terror have shaken their faith,” he rued.

Clarifying his position in view of the allegation by the Samajwadi Party, Singh said, “I have bought the land in an open auction of the Allahabad Development Authority in September 2002. The adjacent plot was purchased in 2005.”

“No slum dweller occupied the land on which the mall was built and therefore the question of their eviction did not arise. The architectural drawing of the mall had been approved by Allahabad Development Authority”, Singh said.

He further said that money invested in the construction of the mall had nothing to do with VP Singh. The administration had been informed about fire hazard due to illegal constructions near his mall, but no action had been taken to demolish those structures, Singh lamented.
