Zenzi, once the most happening spot in Bandra and the regular hangout of expats, models, Bollywood types, and the beautiful people of Mumbai, has shut for refurbishment.Workmen are busy demolishing the interiors.
The bar on Waterfield Road, which is run by Dutch partners, who own a lounge bar and restaurant in Amsterdam, will reopen in September.
Grand reopening
Numbers of guests at the bar, which opened five and a half years ago, had dwindled in recent months after the bar had closed its outdoors section.
Emiliano Collazo, spokesman for Zenzi, says: “We closed down last week as we felt it was time to refurbish the place after five years. We decided to do this two months ago. We are planning on reopening in September with a big grand re-opening party. The bar is being completely redesigned and what we are doing will be a big surprise. The outdoors section will become a decorative part of the new design,” he says. The partners are also putting in new soundproofing.

Collazo adds: “We are very excited that Zenzi will be back to its old self and we think all our customers as everyone has been missing Zenzi a lot as they see it as a hangout and extension of their living room.”
