FIRING AND incident of scuffle in broad day light in front of the commissioner office created panic in the area for some times on Wednesday. Shops owners pulled down shutters and ran for cover.
Two persons including a block development council (BDC) member, sustained injuries in the incident,. On getting the information, police rushed to the spot and opened fire in the air to disperse the miscreants. The injured were admitted to the district hospital and police had launched a search operation to arrest the miscreants. Reports said, BDC member of Jungle Kauria block Devendra Pratap alias Dabblu Singh, had purchased a flat on the first floor near the Employment Exchange office under Cantonment police station. On Wednesday Dabblu Singh arrived there by his Tavera UP53-6066 to oversee the repair work going on in the flat.
Meanwhile, some miscreants in a Scorpio and Gypsy too arrived there and exchanged hot words with Singh. They attacked Dabblu Singh with bricks and rods. Dabblu opened fire to save himself. However, the assailants snatched the riffle and pistols from Dabblu Singh and rushed towards Shastri crossing.

{{/usCountry}}According to reports, besides Dabblu, one Shahab Ahmad, a resident of Jafra Bazar locality under Tiwaripur police station, was also injured.
Sources said Shahab Ahmad had named Faizy and Sonu for the firing. However, police were yet to register any case in the incident. The injured were out of danger. The incident had once again exposed the tall claims of the police that the crime graph was well under control in the district.
