BJP expels former MP for standing against Yashwant Sinha

The BJP expelled its former MP, Mahavir Lal and former Hazaribag district president for rebelling against the party's official candidate.

The BJP today expelled its former MP, Mahavir Lal Vishwakarma, and former Hazaribag district president, K P Sharma, for rebelling against the party's official candidate and external affairs minister, Yashwant Sinha, party sources here said.

Vishwakarma, supported by Sharma, had announced his candidature against Sinha in the Hazaribag constituency, prompting the party to take the extreme step, the sources said.

Meanwhile, Vishwakarma and Sharma said that they had resigned from the party and the former would file his nomination tomorrow for the Hazaribag seat.
