A blusher is essential to even out the skin tone and camouflage imperfections such as pigmentation and dark spots. But the blush colour and the method of its application can change your look, so choose with care.
Colour Essential
“Rather than overdoing eyes and lips, women should concentrate on how to apply a blush and even out their skin tone,” says beauty expert Vidya Tikari. “For fair complexion, it is best to choose among pastel pinks, coral or soft browns. If your skin tone is medium you can try berry tones, mid brown and peachy tones and shades that flatter those with a darker skin tone should opt for deep browns, bronzes and plum,” explains beauty expert Ambika Pillai.
Face it better
The oval face type does not need contouring as the natural slope of the face is a perfect for blush. For a natural look, apply blush on the apples of cheeks.
People with square-shaped faces should soften the angles of their cheeks by concentrating the brighter colour of the blush on the apples of the cheeks, and sweeping the colour towards the temple.
Start applying blush to the area just above the apples of your cheeks and blend forward to thin a round face. Don’t get the blush too close to your nose; otherwise, the extra colour will highlight the rounded area of the cheeks. Dust the contour shade just below the cheekbone down to the jaw line and blend the colour so it looks natural.
