Meherban Singh was murdered by his son Vijendra Singh Bhati, alias Shravan, who used to work at the BJP office full time, and is said to be close to Menon.

Talking to the media here today, City Congress president Ujagar Singh, senior Congress leader Kripa Shankar Shukla and City Congress vice-president K K Mishra said they have all the evidence necessary for nailing Menon, and prove his complicity in the crime. They said they would present all the evidence in the court.

They also welcomed the announcement by the BJP that it would sue Congress party leaders including State Congress president Subhash Yadav and K K Mishra for his statements alleging Menon’s involvement in the murder. The Congress leaders said that things would come out in black and white once the BJP sues them.

The Congress leaders also threatened that if the police did not investigate the call details, they themselves would present it to the media.

When asked specifically, the Congress leaders said that Menon was present in the BJP office when Meherban Singh Bhati was killed by Shravan. “He (Meherban) must have shouted or screamed when he was being strangled by Shravan, and Menon lives in the office premises itself, so it is impossible that he did not hear it,” said Kripa Shankar Shukla. The leaders also alleged that Menon was present when the body was being shifted in his vehicle.
