A Muzaffarpur district councillor was arrested on Monday in connection with the attack on Bihar revenue and land reforms minister Ramai Ram in April.

Gupteshwar Prasad Singh alias Mukesh was arrested from Malshahi Nawada village in Muzaffarpur district following a tip off, police said in Muzaffarpur.

The minister's aide Shashi Ranjan has lodged an FIR against the district councillor and his supporters under various sections of Indian Penal Code for the attack on Ram's cavalcade on April 20.
Irate locals gheraoed the police station for several hours demanding Singh's immediate release and were pacified by police and civil officials who rushed to the spot.
