The ex-corporators have also alleged that one of the two trained radiologists Dr Rakesh Pathak posted at the Beli Hospital was transferred under a well planned conspiracy of some senior health department officers.

Addressing the mediapersons here on Monday, State Employees Union leader Kripa Shankar Srivastava said due to delay made by the district health department and Beli Hospital administration in starting CT Scan unit, a large number of poor patients are forced to give heavy fees to the private diagnostic centres.

Soon after installation of CT Scan unit at Regional Diagnostic Centre, one of the two radiologists, Dr Rakesh Pathak, was sent for a special three-month training at KGMU. After completing training Dr Rakesh Pathak took over the charge of CT Scan on March 9, 2006.

No specific reason was given for his transfer. Now only one radiologist is there at the Beli Hospital.

But due to his chronic illness he is unable to handle the unit," he added.

Ex-corporator Rani Singh said after a period of 58 years a CT Scan machine was installed at the government hospital to provide latest diagnostic facility to the poor patients.

But the main objective of the state government remains unfulfilled due to faulty transfer policy of the health department, he said.

"What's more public money was also wasted on the training of Dr Rakesh Pathak," she said.

Singh said they have planned to launch an agitation against the district health department and DG (health) if the machine is not made functional immediately.

Manoj Krishna Mishra, Mohd Sabir and Shashi Kant Triapthi also addressed the press conference.
