Dalit youth assaulted, forced to eat human faeces in UP

A Dalit youth was allegedly assaulted and forced to consume human faeces by three persons at Barkali village under Kotwali police station in Muzaffarnagar, police said on Saturday.

A Dalit youth was allegedly assaulted and forced to consume human faeces by three persons at Barkali village under Kotwali police station in Muzaffarnagar, police said on Saturday.

According to FIR lodged by the victim's brother, the three accused, belonging to Tyagi community, allegedly took 24-year-old Govind to a secluded area and started assaulting him. Later, they forced him to consume human faeces.

The accused also claimed that the youth was suspected to be involved in a theft and they were questioning him.

On the intervention of a senior police officer, a case was registered on Friday against three people belonging to an upper class and arrested two accused - Lovkush Tyagi and Vinod Tyagi - in this connection, according to the SP city Sarvan Kumar.

The victim was rushed to the district hospital and is stated to be in serious condition, he said.
