As Delhi readies to implement the odd-even traffic policy from January 1, Robert Vadra hit out at the ruling Aam Aadmi Party on Saturday, accusing it of hypocrisy over the exemption lists.

“Odd and Even ways !! Creating parallel lists of exemption, is complete hypocrisy. If a law is implemented in the interest of the people, we all must adhere, and not be VIPs,” the son-in-law of Congress president Sonia Gandhi posted on Facebook.

As it turns out, Vadra himself is accorded VIP status at airports where he is exempted from frisking and pre-flight security checks. While political rivals of the Congress have often attacked Vadra for it, the businessman has said he doesn’t want to be on the exemptions list. The controversy lead to Vadra’s name being removed and then added again to the list, despite a government announcement that he has been stripped off the privilege.

Delhi’s odd-even traffic policy dictates that cars with registration numbers ending in an odd digit will ply on odd numbered dates while even on even numbered dates. The policy is being implemented for a 15-day trial period.
