Dr. Girija Vyas

A well-qualified and dedicated Congress worker from Udaipur, she has worked as a writer, educationist and social worker.

A well-qualified and dedicated Congress worker from Udaipur, Girirja Vyas, has worked as a writer, educationist and social worker. Born on the 8th July 1946 in Udaipur, Rajasthan, Girija went on to study at the University of Udaipur and followed this up with a stint in America.

Having completed her MA and Phd she worked as a teacher, educationist, writer and a social worker. In 1991 she was elected for the 10th Lok Sabha as Union Deputy Minister, and then re-elected for another two terms.

She held the following key political positions:

Spare Time
Girija has remained unmarried and spends a lot of time carrying out research and writing her own books. These include the 'Ethical Teachings of Bhagwat Gita and Bible' and the 'Philosophy of Shuddadvaita.' She has contributed 50 articles in national and international journals, as well as writing Urdu poems and Hindi articles on social issues. Music is a necessity for her, whether it is old Hindi songs or melancholy ghazals.
