Former Uttarakhand CM's wife dies

Senior BJP leader and former Uttarakhand chief minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank's wife Kusum Kanta died in Dehra Dun on Sunday at the age of 50 after protracted illness.

Senior BJP leader and former Uttarakhand chief minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank's wife Kusum Kanta died in Dehra Dun on Sunday at the age of 50 after protracted illness.

Kanta, who was suffereing from cancer, breathed her last at a private hospital at 6.45am, family members said.

She was the principal of Government Girls Higher Secondary School at Hathi Barkala city.

Kanta was cremated later in the day at Kankhal in Haridwar district.

Uttarakhand chief minister Vijay Bahuguna and several other state political leaders attended the cremation.
