The district administration is planning to give Ghaziabad -- the city that has been in the news for all wrong reasons such as pollution and crime – a makeover.
According to Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) vice-chairman Santosh Kumar Yadav, as a first step, the administration would revamp the entry and exit points to the city. This would reflect the character of the city that has many positives to its credit.
"Entrance to a city creates the first impression about the place. We want the visitors to form a good impression about the city. The GDA will revamp all the major entry points," said Yadav.
The vice-chairman said the renovation work at Maharajpur border will be completed within 15 days.
"Ghaziabad has many advantages as compared to Delhi. But when someone visits the city, the difference is not felt. For instance, Ghaziabad has wide roads. If laws are enforced properly, travelling in Ghaziabad would be a pleasant experience," said Yadav.
Delivering the keynote address at a panel discussion organized by Hindustan Times, the vice-chairman said the administration would deploy private guards to assist traffic police and streamline vehicular movement.

{{/usCountry}}"The Ghaziabad police face staff crunch. Deployment of trained private guards will go a long way in streamlining the traffic," Yadav added.
Yadav asked the builders to share innovative ideas to bring about change in the image of the city.
"The newly-built bridge across the Hindon has given a major relief to daily commuters. Mohan Nagar T-point is another major gridlock. We are working on a plan to make the junction chaos-free. We welcome any idea to make the city beautiful," the official said.
Although the city has many malls, multiplexes and residential areas, a 'few problems' cast a shadow over its image.
"Municipal Corporation of Delhi collects toll tax from commercial vehicles at the border. As a result, long queues of vehicles are created. These queues create inconvenience to other commuters. We will try to sort out the issue by talking to the Delhi administration," said Yadav.
