How we all wish we were able to buy more time for ourselves, like every day. Well, today is the day when we all are granted this particular wish.

The last day of June will have an extra second, or a “leap” second added to it as the earth’s rotation is slowing down a bit.

A leap second is inserted either on June 30 or December 31.

As we all know, the clock normally moves from 23:59:59 to 00:00:00 the next day. However, with the leap second on June 30, Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) will move from 23:59:59 to 23:59:60 and then to 00:00:00 on July 1. Because of this extra second, many systems are supposedly going to be turned off for one second.

Since we all have an extra second on our plates, folks on Twitter had some interesting suggestions about could be done with it.
