HC seeks report on safety of religious places

The court directed the Principal Secretary, Home, to file his report on the same in a sealed cover.

The Lucknow Bench of the Allahabad High Court on Friday sought a report from the Uttar Pradesh government about the steps taken or being taken towards security arrangements in religious and public places before and the after the Varanasi blasts.

A division bench of Justice Jagadish Bhalla and Justice Dharm Veer Sharma passed the order on a PIL contending no proper security arrangement were in place to protect the religious places, shrines, temples, churches, gurudwara and masque in the state and they are in danger.

It also pointed towards lack of security at railway stations, hotels, cinema halls, schools, petrol pumps and places of public gathering due to which life of every person was in danger.

The court directed the Principal Secretary, Home, to file his report on the same in a sealed cover.
