Addressing a press conference, held on Friday in Macau, IIFA Brand Ambassador, Amitabh Bachchan announced that The Venetian Macau-Resort-Hotel would be the venue for the 10th IIFA weekend next month.. between June 11 and 13. The press conference which was scheduled at 2 pm, started an hour and half late.
Reason: prior to the press conference, a photo opportunity was held with Bachchan Sr taking a Gondola ride after 30 years.. it’s learnt.
Although Mr Bachchan who has travelled around the world all his life, this was his first visit to Macau, he admitted during the press conference.
Bachchan explained that the IIFA Weekend is a culmination of mega events which bring Indian cinema to the world forum. He added that for the last 10 years, through IIFA, the organizers have been trying to promote Indian Film Industry across the world. During the open q and a session, when someone asked him about the current scenario in Bollywood, Bachchan corrected him saying, “We don’t call it Bollywood. It’s Indian film industry.”

But there’s a catch 22 situation this year. “We’re yet to take a call on which movies would be premiered or shown the first stills of, since there are no new releases in the forthcoming weeks.. given the on-going producer-multiplex rift. The producer/distributor forum is already going against releasing the movies in the multiplexes,” Bachchan added.

This year, the second day of IFFA will include FICCI IIFA Global Business Forum.
