JD(U)'s Karnataka unit president B Somashekhar on Wednesday demanded an "impartial inquiry" into alleged "tampering" of Electronic Voting Machines in Binnypet and Bannur assembly constituencies which, he alleged, had been done to favour the ruling Congress.

Speaking to reporters here, he said the voters in some polling booths in the two constituencies had damaged the EVMs because of alleged "doctoring" in connivance with officials.
There were also doubts that similar tampering might have taken place elsewhere too, he said.
Somashekhar also said the central forces should guard the EVMs used in the two phases of elections for the Lok Sabha and the state assembly.
He called for an inquiry into the "largescale missing of voters names in the electoral rolls."
