Indians shoot gold in World Cup Archery

The Indian trio of Rahul Banerjee, Mangal Singh Champia and Jayanta Talukdar clinched the men's team recurve gold medal with a 218-214 win over the US in the final of the World Cup archery (Stage II) in Antalya, Turkey.

The Indian trio proved too good for the Americans — Brady Ellison, Richard Johnson and Vic Wunderle — and maintained the lead throughout the final to win the first gold medal of the series. At the Porec World Cup, India had settled for silver, bowing to Italy.

Bobby Rana shines

New Delhi: Bobby Rana created a new meet record in the 50 mt. butterfly strokes event in the Delhi State jr. National Championship. His timing was 29.14 as he broke the previous record of 20.49 of Rishab Pawar.

Samoa named for CWG rugby

New Delhi: Newly-crowned IRB Sevens World Series champions Samoa are named in a strong line-up of nations for the 2010 Commonwealth Games Rugby Sevens tournament in Delhi in October.

Samoa now make the sport a 16 nation tournament for the prestigious event.
