The Indian community in Fiji celebrated Janmashtami with great enthusiasm and devotion.
The Sanatan Shiv Mandir in Suva ended the eighth day of celebrations on Tuesday, with devotees taking part in prayers and making offerings of fruits and food.
Of Fiji's 900,000 people spread over a hundred islands, nearly 45 per cent are of Indian descent.
Fiji's Sanatan Dharam Pratinidhi Sabha Suva branch president Rameshwar Chandra said there was a huge turnout at temples.
Members of the Indian community visited Hindu temples and offered prayers and invited people from other communities to their home to join the celebrations and enjoy traditional Indian food, the Fiji Times reported.
Another Hindu leader, Kamlesh Arya, said the festival was a time for Hindus to come together and mark the birth of Lord Krishna.
"Lord Krishna lived by the principles of good leadership and sincerity and was at the forefront of building a conducive society," said Arya.
