Jammu and Kashmir government has decided to put the names of professional guides, travel agents on tourism department's website.

Jammu and Kashmir government has decided to put the names of professional guides, travel agents and other related persons on tourism department website and display these at prominent tourist transit points.

We have decided to air the names of professional guides, travel agents and other related persons on tourism department website and display these at prominent tourist transit points to help professionals and tourists visiting the state, Tourism Minister Ghulam Hassan Mir said.

He was interacting with tourist professionals and aspiring entreprenuers undergoing one month entrepreneurship development course on tourism management here.

He said the government has made efforts to diversify the tourism industry by promoting sports, adventure and heritage tourism in the state.

Highlighting the immense potential for the industry in the state, he said it could play a pivotal role in achieving the goal of self-sustained economy and solve the surging unemployment problem.

Replying to questions from participants, Mir said the state government in its endeavour to expand the tourist infrastructure was keen to involve private entrepreneurs in the sector.
