According to Junior Doctors Association (JDA) State general secretary and Youth For Equality (YFE) national spokesman Dr Anand Rai the medical community had been most vocal in expressing protest last time when the Human Resource Ministry let the genie of reservation out of the bag again. Showing great unity, doctors conducted protests across the country, making the Supreme Court intervene, and the movement subsided only when the matter became sub judice.

Intent on carrying out its policies, the government has overlooked certain sections of the SC ruling given in this context recently and declared its resolve to implement reservation for OBCs in institutes of higher learning and excellence, which would be once again opposed by them.

He said that the JDA and YFE were in talks with the local chapter of Indian Medical Association (IMA) office-bearers and they would announce their plans of agitation defining future course of action against the government move soon.

The services at MYH were hit by the mass casual leave by junior doctors, as they carry out most of the work. The hospital administration issued notice to consultants and other senior doctors to be present on duty in order to avoid inconvenience to patients.
