Kalam to address BHU convocation

President of India and Visitor of Banaras Hindu University Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam will deliver the convocation address at the convocation of the varsity on March 3. Union Human Resource Development Minister Arjun Singh will be guest of honour at the convocation and BHU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Panjab Singh will preside over the function.

Sources disclosed that the Governor would also be present on the occasion to welcome the President. At the convocation, chairman of Power Grid Corporation of India RP Singh and eminent plastic surgeon Prof. Muneer of Chennai would be awarded the degree of Doctor of Science (Honoris Causa).

Meanwhile, senior police and administrative officials, including Inspector General of Police KL Meena, Deputy Inspector General of Police RN Yadav, Senior Superintendent of Police Navneet Sikera and District Magistrate Nitin Ramesh Gokran visited the BHU campus on Saturday and reviewed the security arrangements.

The senior administrative and police officials also held discussions with Chief Proctor Prof. SK Singh and Dean of Students Prof. VK Kumra about the proposed visit of Dr. Kalam. They also visited the air strip at the BHU where the helicopter of Dr. Kalam will land.
