Leave Dhoni alone, let him settle down

India did well to score 356 in the second one-dayer at Vishakhapatnam. Although it turned out to be a high-scoring affair with Pakistan scoring close to 300, maintaining a run-rate of over seven per over 50 overs is not easy at the international level.

Many people are of the opinion that the outcome might well have been different had Inzamam lasted for ten more overs, but then, there is no place for 'ifs' and 'buts' in cricket.

Sehwag and Dhoni were exceptional with the bat. Sehwag is currently in the form of his life and should make the most of it. He is 'in the zone' and the Pakistani bowlers must be sick of him.

The special feature of his batting and Dhoni is that most of their strokes are conventional, and pleasing to the eyes. Batsmen whose game is based on orthodoxy tend to last longer in international cricket, and India seem to have several such players.

While Dhoni deserves all the praise, I must say it is amusing to find some people comparing him to Adam Gilchrist.
