Lt Gen Katoch visits Cantonment

LT GEN PC Katoch, UYSM, AVSM, SC, General Officer Commanding, 1 Corps accompanied by president 1 corps AWWA arrived on May 9 on a day’s visit to Allahabad Cantonment.

On arrival, the General Officer was received by Maj Gen MS Buttar, GOC Red Eagle Division and other army dignitaries. He then laid a wreath at the formation War Memorial.

The General is an alumni of the Indian Military Academy and was commissioned into 1 PARA (SF). He is a graduate of the Defence Service Staff College and has attended the higher command courses. He has also attended the prestigious National Defence College courses at New Delhi.

The General participated in the 1971 Indo-Pak war in Western Theatre and has rich experience in counter-insurgency operations in the North-East. He commanded a unit in Sri Lanka, a brigade in Siachen glacier, a division in high altitude and was the defence attaché in Japan.

The General Officer was posted as Assistant Chief of Integrated Defence Staff (Strategic) in headquarters Integrated Defence Staff, Army HQ before taking over the present assignment as General Officer Commanding of a prestigious strike corps.

The General Officer was accompanied by Kamini Katoch, President Army Wives’ Welfare Association of the above mentioned strike corps. She witnessed a number of welfare activities undertaken by the Red Eagle Division at Allahabad, said SM Sharma, Wing Commander and Public Relations Officer, Ministry of Defence, Allahabad, in a Press release on Tuesday.
