It’s been just some time since we shifted to this flat in Mumbai. We already have two flats in the city but I always wanted to see a nameplate on my door. My husband and my father both had a house with their names on the door.

This flat has a great location. It’s near the highway and closer to my studios. I am at the centre and everything else revolves around me. I don’t know anything about vaastu. Our family is very religious and we all are very positive in our lives. So I think even a bad place will get imbued with positive energy.

A private abodeThis house has been designed to suit our taste. We (my husband and I) have known each other for 26 years now. So we have grown together and known each at every stage of life. We have consciously avoided interior decorators. I am a very private person and I don’t like socialising, I don’t visit people’s houses. I am a cleanliness freak and I am also particular about the placement of the furniture.

My house is very simple and I think that simplicity also conveys a lot of things about an individual. I don’t believe in exotic artifacts. One does not have to keep a vase worth a lakh of rupees ... who would actually know the worth of it? You can’t really keep the price tag on the object to tell others how expensive the object is. Every corner in my house is my favourite corner. But for chilling out, my bedroom is the best place.— Esha Sahor Lepcha, BNS
