BJP leader Yashwant Sinha cornered him when he asked whether the process of due diligence was done before setting the target of 20 km of highways every day.

Nath retorted that he had never said the ministry would achieve the target immediately. “It is impossible to build 20 km of road per day in the current circumstances,” he said. “I said we will initiate the process of achieving 20 km a day target in a year”.

Sinha still thought it was unrealistic, saying the government could not achieve more than 10-12 km a day. That target, Nath said, had already been achieved with 12.1 km of roads developed excluding repairs between July and September this year.
