Palash sings en route to enter record books

Palash began his journey from Kapleshar Mandir in Nasik on Tuesday morning (5 am) in a jeep and sang for 30 hours upto Wednesday morning (11 am). He presented the first Bhajan in Kapleshwar Mandir and then made this record by singing around 600 songs in 30 hours with only two breaks in between. Around 70 vehicles accompanied Palash in this ‘Gayan Yatra’ organised by Rotary International.

The Yatra halted at an Old Age Home in Nasik, Amravati, Jalgaon, Vardha, Akola and reached Thane in Mumbai on Wednesday. Palash had created his record of singing for 30 hours by then. Anushka Singhal of Indore (who made a record of singing non-stop for 18 hours recently) sang along with Palash during the Yatra. Apart from Palash and Anushka the musicians playing music with the songs, Bhajans and Aarti also made a record. Deep Gupta, Hemant Pavdey, Vijay Bargal, Arjun Kulpare, Ravi Salke and Anand Yadav played music continuously for 30 hours.

The Yatra ended with a welcome ceremony for the singers and musicians in an open air auditorium at Carter Road in Mumbai. Maharashtra Labour Minister Baba Saheb Siddiqui and various Congressmen and film stars welcomed Palash. Palash would now make claim for Guinness Book Record as he has broken the record of Tarun Jhawar of Hyderabad who sang for 26 hours.
