THE LDA has cancelled the house allotted by it to Vishwanath Chaturvedi under its Kanpur Road Housing Scheme on the ground that the latter defaulted in making full-payment of the property. Chaturvedi, who has filed several PIL against the LDA and the State Government in Supreme Court, had filed a petition here in the High Court, stating that though he had applied under One Time Settlement Scheme (OTS), the LDA was yet to communicate to him the amount he owed the department.

According to Chaturvedi’s counsel BK Singh, LDA’s lawyer had sought a day’s time to reply when the petition came up for hearing in the HC on Tuesday. “On Wednesday, LDA’s lawyer informed the court that the LIG house in question (L/119) on Kanpur Road allotted to Chaturevdi had been cancelled as he was a defaulter and that he had been given a week’s time to vacate it,” said Singh.

Singh said Chaturvedi had deposited Rs 1.78 lakh with the LDA against the house and was waiting for a final costing as he had applied under the OTS scheme.
