Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch Digital India Week on July 1 with top industrialists from India and abroad announcing a slew of investment plans for digital India, at an event to be attended by 10,000 people.
Microsoft’s Bill Gates and CEO Satya Nadella and Infosys co-founder NR Narayana Murthy will give a miss to the event due to their prior engagements.
Telecommunications minister Ravi Shankar Prasad on Saturday gave a preview of the Digital India Week, which he said will be a game changer, from the perspective of delivery of pro-citizen good governance with synchronized and coordinated engagement of the entire government with the people.
However, there is no clarity, if the government plans to track in a systemic manner, all the promises to be made by the corporate leaders at the event. “I do not see any reason why I should not believe them,” Prasad said.
A note distributed by the ministry said, “Activities under the Digital India initiative is being carefully monitored by the Prime Minister as the chairman of monitoring committee on Digital India.”
