Firoz Deshmukh, another Lashkar-e-Toiba (LET) operative, who surrendered before the MCOCA court last month and was in police custody till Monday has been put under judicial custody till September 4.

Firoz, who surrendered before the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act court last month was produced before the MCOCA judge MR Bhatkar on Monday and the police did not seek his custody.

MCOCA court had earlier granted permission for extension of the detention period of the 16 persons arrested in the same case and the time was granted till September 4.

As sought by ATS, the court also issued a production warrant against two alleged accused—Firoz Gaswala and Mohd Ali Chippy, who is presently in a Delhi jail.

The ATS, in a joint operation with the Aurangabad police on May 9, had arrested three terrorists including an activist of the banned Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) from near the Guruneshwar temple at Verul village and seized arms and ammunition from them.
