His assailant Munna Rai alias Hulchul Rai is still in a coma and battling for survival.

"Prasad's condition is stable and there is no cause for alarm," Dr Narendra Prasad, an eminent surgeon, who is attending on him at a private nursing home said.

He said that the BJP leader, who had received gunshot injury in his left arm, had suffered multiple fractures and the doctors at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences in Delhi would decide on the future course of treatment.

Meanwhile, the Patna Medical College and Hospital deputy superintendent, Ashok Singh, said that a CT scan was performed on Munna Rai Friday morning to ascertain the exact extent of injury and the report was still awaited.

The man had received serious head injuries and doctors were doing their best to save his life, Singh said.
