To keep her five-year-old son Parth engaged, she lets him watch Cartoon Network. “Once I switch on the news, he gets curious and asks for his father,” she told Hindustan Times on Monday.

Sampada said the condition of her father-in-law, an asthmatic and diabetic, has worsened after Uday’s arrest. Uday and his colleague Palraj Thever were arrested on Sunday for allegedly placing pebbles and gravel in the gearbox of Ambani’s helicopter on April 23.

Employed with Air Works Engineering since 12 years, Uday lives with his parents, wife and son in a cramped room in Pyari Nagar at Khar Danda.

Sampada, who works in a cosmetology firm, has not met her husband since his arrest. She refused to give any statements to the media till she consulted her husband, who is in the custody of the Government Railway Police (GRP).

Even neighbours doubt that Uday is guilty.

“I have played cricket with him since we were kids. Kisine usko phasaya hai. (He is being framed),” said a neighbour who did not wish to be named. Sampada has not sought legal aid yet.
