Three-day health fair from today

A THREE- DAY health fair under the directive of Health and Family Welfare Ministry of Union Government is going to be organised here in Varanasi from March 19 to 21.

Giving this information to mediapersons here on Saturday, Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Dr AP Singh said that this health fair would be organised at the Government Girls’ School in Badagon area.

“More than 40 stalls, including stalls of private hospitals and laboratories, will be set up in the health fair”, he said.

Dr Singh said that a target of 15,000 to 20,000 patients had been fixed to help them during the three-day health fair. He further informed that renowned medical experts and pathologists would be available to advise the patients.

Dr Singh said that free treatment, free diagnosis and free distribution of medicines had been ensured for the rural patients and the fair would cover Badagaon development block, Pindra development block and some parts of Cholapur and Araziline development blocks.

Dr Singh said that besides this, the rural people would also be apprised of various health-related schemes of the state and Central governments and tubectomy and vasectomy would also be done in the health fair.

He informed that local MP Rajesh Mishra would inaugurate the three-day fair whereas district magistrate of Varanasi Nitin Ramesh Gokaran would be the chief guest at the valedictory function of the fair.

Dr Singh also informed that cheques of Rs 500 would be distributed to pregnant women below poverty line under the scheme of ‘Janani Suraksha Yojna’ while free spectacles would also be distributed to the school going kids between the age group of 8 to 14 years with vision problems.
