July 27: Mosque at Greater Noida’s Kadalpur village in Uttar Pradesh demolished; state government suspends sub-divisional magistrate Durga Shakti Nagpal. The IAS officer was attached to the board of revenue in Lucknow.

July 30: An activist moves PIL in high court challenging the suspension.

August 2: High court issues notice to UP and central governments on the PIL.

August 4: State government issues chargesheet to Nagpal.

August 16: Nagpal, who was given 15 days, replies to the chargesheet.

August 19: HC dismisses PIL, saying matter of suspension cannot be subject matter of PIL.

August 28: Government appoints principal secretary (home) RM Srivastav to inquire into the matter and report within 15 days.

September 21: Nagpal meets chief minister Akhilesh Yadav.

September 22: Nagpal’s suspension revoked.
