Two Hurriyat leaders arrested in JK

Two leaders of separatist amalgam Hurriyat Conference were arrested by the police under Public Safety Act in Kishtwar district of J&K, police said.

Two leaders of separatist amalgam Hurriyat Conference were on Thursday arrested by the police under Public Safety Act in Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir, police said.

Police raided the houses of Jammu region Hurriyat convener Ghulam Nabi Gundna and provincial head Abdul Gani Shah in Kishtwar and arrested them, Kishtwar Superintendent of Police Haseeb Mughal said.

They were slapped with PSA and immediately shifted to Kathua district jail, he said.

They have been booked for "anti-national activities and inciting people".

Some people also closed their shops and observed a shutdown in Kishtwar town. However, the situation was peaceful and no untoward incident was reported from anywhere, he said.
