Padmabhushan awardee Tyeb Mehta, one of India's leading artists, died following a heart attack, his family sources said.

The 84-year-old Mehta passed away last night at Asian Heart Institute Hospital, they said. He had been battlingill-health and failing eye-sight for past two years, they said.
Mehta was suffering from cold and had a chest complication. He was admitted to the hospital last eveningwhere he succumbed following a massive heart attack, the sources said.
Mehta was honoured with Padmabhushan by the Government for his contribution to art.
The paintings of Mehta, who was born in 1925 in Gujarat, include his canvas 'Kali' which broke the Rs 1 crore barrierduring an auction. Another work of his 'Celebration' went for Rs 1.5 crore on September 19, 2003.
