The famed Indian mangoes may soon flood the US market if President George W Bush's wishlist in India is any indication.

"The US is looking forward to eating Indian mangoes," said Bush as a smiling Manmohan Singh nodded in approval.

Currently there is a ban on mangoes from India, which is the world's largest exporter of the 'King of fruits'.

The US argues that Indian mangoes contain pesticides.

At a joint news conference with Singh, Bush said the US was opening up markets for Indian products.

"The US is the largest trading partner of India," he said.

The captains of the industry from both India and the US submitted their report to the two leaders on establishing a roadmap for economic and trade cooperation.

Bush said Indian and American institutions would be undertaking joint agricultural research projects.

It seems the mango could become a symbol of the "growing appetite" of the two countries to forge closer ties.
