Recently, filmmaker Karan Johar’s production house Dharma Productions was in trouble for not paying its employees on the US sets of Rensil D Silva’s unnamed film. However, Johar says this whole issue was “a ridiculous matter.” Itee Dewan reports.

Recently, filmmaker Karan Johar’s production house Dharma Productions was accused of not paying its employees on the US sets of Rensil D Silva’s unnamed film. A case was registered against them at the Philadelphia court, where the movie was being shot at the time. However, Johar says this whole issue was “a ridiculous matter.”

Australian company Swish, that was hired by Dharma Productions to oversee production in the US, reportedly ran away with cheques to the tune of $1 million, causing a delay in payments and maligning the company’s name.

As damage control, Dharma is re-issuing cheques to the crew in US. “This company has let us down, they defaulted on payments but we made the payments a second time. We owed the crew and did the needful only on humanitarian grounds,” said Johar. He added, “Never in the 40 years of Dharma’s existence have we faced this. The monetary loss can still be worked out but because of this incident we have lost our reputation. We are in the process of taking legal action against Swish.”
